So I know I am always wanting to know what the next book is with ample time to get it through the library. So here is the pick for next month- Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. It is an adolescent book (at best although some reviews listed the target age at 10- so apparently I have a juvenile brain which will come as no surprise to Candi and KT). I absolutely loved this book- it's a WAY EASY read told as a he said/she said. Each chapter alternates between the two main characters Juli and Bryce. There are some relatively deep family issues that unfold over the course of the story and some interesting statements on what makes a person happy- on a purely juvenile level of course. =) One of my students gave me their copy at the end of my first year teaching as a present. I read it last summer and have been wanting to read it again ever since.
On a side note it has been made into a movie that is set to release September 17th (not a good sign as far as the release date late August/September and February are the months reserved for movies that would flop any other time and may still flop)- although Rob Reiner is the director and they have some quality name actors in it- so I look forward to at least Netflixing it. This is the only available still for it on imdb.com.

I put this on my good reads to-read list and then it wanted to tell me what book clubs had this on their lists. There was one called Pancake Lovers. It seemed to be made up of a bunch of random silly middleschool girls. I much prefer cheese and candy over pancakes. Thank you very much goodreads, but no thanks.
Sorry I won't be there... unless Marie lives close and wants to share her internet connection. =)
I just loved this book - I'm excited to discuss it at our next meeting! Good choice Marie :)
