Thanks to all of you who made it out to the Kens Sanders lecture about Edward Abbey and some of his books. It was interesting and fun to go down to the library together and get a little culture and anarchy. Maybe someday we can go downtown to Ken Saunders used book store and browse around. (If only it was still called Cosmic Airplane.) We talked about Three Cups of Tea a little afterwards as we were leaving but most of us hadn't finished it so next month be prepared to discuss both books. If after the lecture you are interested in reading some Ed Abbey books, I suggest Desert Solitaire. It's one of my all time favorites. Monkey Wrench Gang is excellent but be prepared for swearing and vulgarity that will only get worse with other novels of his you read. The non-fiction stuff is safer and will make you crave a trip down south to the desert or down the river.
