Enough with froofy feminine books, new-releases, feel good novels, love stories, and non-fiction books. Next month the book is going to be a classic, something you'd find on every single list of "books-you-must-read," one of those books you see parodied on an episode of The Simpsons, one that has turned into a cliche phrase everyone uses whether or not they've read the book or know what it means. It is not going to be G-rated so be prepared. Reading it may put a little hair on your chest but in the end it'll give us character, making us well rounded and better informed about the world around us and the literature that has helped to form the society we live in today. The book we will be reading and discussing at our meeting on November 18th will be Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. (Or as my favorite and former nephew-in-law once said, "People, we are going to be disgusting things. Not as in when things are gross, but as in when we talk about them.")Everyone read it, everyone come. Here are two quotes from Catch 22. Let's hope our discussion leans a little more toward the latter one... but without the quarreling and the tears. Crying makes me uncomfortable. Crazy is ok.
"Dunbar was lying motionless on his back again with his eyes staring up at the ceiling like a doll's. He was working hard at increasing his life span. He did it by cultivating boredom."
"As always occurred when he quarreled over principles in which he believed passionately, he would end up gasping furiously for air and blinking back bitter tears of conviction. There were many principles in which Clevinger believed passionately. He was crazy."

Woot woot, for hair on my chest. Looks like there are a lot of copies in the Salt Lake City Public Library System, but many are out so get out there and reserve.
I generally try to remove chest hair... =) but I am excited to read this, whenever I can my hands on a copy- all the copies in my library are out so I have one reserved.
I like the new background, and am very interested in this: how come my name is the only one on the list that is specially written (Gina Gina fo Fina) ? LOL. I like it. I fee special.
Gina Gina fo Fina we'll miss you. Which meeting will you miss, the next one?
I liked this background too. I used to change it with every book but I stopped on this one. I'm thinking of using it on my own blog though and changing this one again.
Whenever I say your name in my head I say it like that. I don't know why but it inspires that song to start up so I wrote it like that. Candi was almost Captain Bat but that might have caused confusion since it would no long contain Candi in it. You should "fee speical" cause you are.
Does anybody need a copy of "Three Cups of Tea"? Because I just finished and I have a book to loan.
Ha ha- that's great. Well, I'm thankful for it. Thank you, K8Y.
Yeah, I'd like to borrow it. I might be able to do a long distance thing with book club this month- but probably not come to think of it as I will be flying on the day of the book club meeting (the 21st, right)? So I will just be getting there with my family. So maybe you don't want to let me borrow the book, afterall. But I will if you will let me.
Ramble, ramble.
remeber when I said I was done constantly changing backgrounds except that I might swap this one with mine...well I did. But I think you will all find the newest background so much more fitting and it will likely be permanant, as in this blog has gone retro and has a perm.
remeber when I could spell the word remember?
I love the old books. Not so sure I like the rose. I want to change the rose. I don't like the rose. I like the books. Can I change the rose?
believe you me you, I hate the rose too. (hey that rhymed) but it was a premade background. It'll seem more appropriate next time we read a girly book instead one that takes place in Pakistan or a war book.
I have the HTML know how to remove that sucker. I just need access to the layout.
